Our School
About Us
At The Divine Infant Catholic School, we are committed to helping each student reach their full potential—academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We recognize that every child is unique, with individual talents and needs.
Our Mission
To provide a safe and nurturing learning environment, guided by the spirit through Reason, Respect and Responsibility.
Our Vision
To nurture a self-directed and responsible life-long learner by example.
Rooted in Catholic Faith
Our Catholic identity is central to everything we do. Religious education is based on the Born of the Spirit catechetical series, approved by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. Students also learn and practice common prayers appropriate to their grade level.
Students are encouraged to live out their faith through acts of service. Throughout the year, they participate in charitable initiatives such as Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives for the Daily Bread Food Bank, Good Shepherd Refuge, and ShareLife. These experiences help students understand the importance of compassion and community, both locally and globally.
A Safe, Respectful and Caring Environment
Aligned with the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s (TCDSB) mission, we provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment. Our Safe Arrival Program ensures student safety through daily attendance checks. Families are responsible for notifying the school of absences or lateness. If no notice is received, the school will follow up directly.
We promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and safety. Students are expected to follow school rules and demonstrate respect for others and school property. Behaviour expectations are regularly reviewed and reinforced. Our commitment to safety is further supported by the TCDSB’s Violence Prevention Policy and school-wide Code of Behaviour.
Staff provide supervision before and after school, during lunch, and at recess. Parents are also asked to inform the school of any serious health conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, epilepsy), which are documented and shared with staff to ensure appropriate care.
Student Success
Teachers adapt and modify instructional programs to meet the diverse needs of students. Support is provided through collaboration with colleagues and specialized staff. Programs such as Resource Support, Behaviour Support, and English as a Second Language (ESL) help ensure all students can succeed.
Enriching Student Life
The Divine Infant Catholic School offers a wide range of extra- and co-curricular activities that support student growth beyond the classroom, including:
Music and Performing Arts

These opportunities are made possible through the dedication and generosity of our staff, who volunteer their time to support students in developing their talents and interests.

School History
The Divine Infant Catholic School opened its doors to the community in September 1986 with 273 students and 18 staff members, including 14 teachers. For the first term, classes were held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School.
The new school building officially opened in January 1987, and the blessing ceremony took place on June 3, 1987. Mr. Harry Murphy served as the founding principal.
Our Patron Saint
Our school is dedicated to Jesus, Infant and King, drawing inspiration from the statue of the Divine Infant of Prague, located in the Church of Our Lady of Prague in the Czech Republic.
Devotion to the Divine Infant began in 1628 and gained further significance when the statue was crowned by the Bishop of Prague, with the Church’s permission, on April 4, 1655.
The Divine Infant is especially revered as a patron of schools, the well-being of children, and strong family life. The many miracles attributed to the Divine Infant of Prague have helped spread this devotion around the world to this day.
