About Us

At The Divine Infant Catholic School, we are committed to helping each student reach their full potential—academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We recognize that every child is unique, with individual talents and needs.

Our Mission

To provide a safe and nurturing learning environment, guided by the spirit through Reason, Respect and Responsibility.

Our Vision

To nurture a self-directed and responsible life-long learner by example.

Rooted in Catholic Faith

  • Our Catholic identity is central to everything we do.

  • We provide religious education through the Born of the Spirit catechetical series, approved by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

  • We help students develop their faith through learning and practicing common prayers appropriate to their grade level.

  • We encourage students to live out their faith through service to others.

  • Throughout the year, our students participate in charitable initiatives, including Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives supporting Daily Bread Food Bank, Good Shepherd Refuge, and ShareLife.

  • Through these service opportunities, we help students develop an understanding of compassion, generosity, and community, both locally and globally.

A Safe, Respectful and Caring Environment

  • We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment, aligned with the mission of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).

  • Our Safe Arrival Program supports student safety through daily attendance monitoring.

  • We ask families to report student absences or lateness to help us maintain accurate attendance and ensure student safety.

  • We promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and safety through:

    • Clear behaviour expectations

    • Our school Code of Behaviour

    • The TCDSB’s Violence Prevention Policy

  • Our staff supervise students throughout the school day to help maintain a safe and supportive environment.

  • We encourage families to notify us of any serious health conditions so that appropriate supports and accommodations can be provided.

  • Together, we work with students and families to foster a school community where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.

Student Success

  • Our teachers adapt and modify instructional programs to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Support is provided through collaboration with colleagues and specialized staff.

  • Programs such as Resource Support, Behaviour Support, and English as a Second Language (ESL) help ensure all students can succeed.

Enriching Student Life

The Divine Infant Catholic School offers a wide range of extra- and co-curricular activities that support student growth beyond the classroom, including:

School History

  • We opened our doors to the community in September 1986 with 273 students and 18 staff members, including 14 teachers.

  • During our first term, classes were temporarily held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School.

  • Our new school building officially opened in January 1987.

  • We celebrated the blessing of our new school on June 3, 1987.

  • Our founding principal was Mr. Harry Murphy, whose leadership helped establish our school community.

  • We are dedicated to Jesus, Infant and King, drawing inspiration from the Divine Infant of Prague, whose statue is located in the Church of Our Lady of Prague in the Czech Republic.

  • Devotion to the Divine Infant began in 1628 and grew in significance after the statue was crowned by the Bishop of Prague, with the Church's permission, on April 4, 1655.

  • We honour the Divine Infant as a special patron of schools, the well-being of children, and strong family life.

  • The many miracles attributed to the Divine Infant of Prague have helped spread this devotion around the world.

  • This devotion continues to inspire our school community to place faith, children, and family at the heart of our Catholic tradition.
