PA Day Activities

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School is a welcoming, dynamic, and forward-thinking learning community. We offer programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, aligned with the Ontario Curriculum.

Our goal is to foster a love of learning, creativity, and independent thinking. Through classroom and extracurricular activities, students are encouraged to develop their talents, serve their community, and pursue their goals with confidence.

We maintain a strong connection with St. Vincent de Paul Church, with parish priests regularly visiting classrooms. Catholic beliefs and values are integrated into daily life through Religious Education and Family Life programs, liturgical celebrations, charitable initiatives such as ShareLife and food drives, community service, and faith-based approaches to conflict resolution.

To ensure student safety, families must notify the school of absences or late arrivals, and students may not leave school grounds during school hours without written permission from a parent or guardian. Our Code of Behaviour, developed with input from parents and staff, is included in the Student Agenda and available through the school office.

We offer a range of programs that support diverse learning needs and interests:

• Integrated Special Education Model: Students learn at their own level within curriculum expectations.

• Empower Reading Program: Targeted support for students developing decoding skills.

• Extended French (Grades 5–8) and Instrumental Music programs.

• Technology Integration: Networked and standalone computers support curriculum and digital literacy.

Students participate in a variety of enriching experiences beyond the classroom, including field trips, outdoor education, concerts, musicals, and drama presentations. Academic and creative opportunities include W5H, math contests, visual arts, and chess, along with athletics and parent-sponsored after-school programs such as art, soccer, and drama.

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School began in 1914, operating out of a storefront on Roncesvalles Avenue with just 35 students.

In 1918, the Sisters of Loretto joined the parish, and a new school building, marked with the date “1917” on its gable, opened on Westminster Avenue on April 18, 1918. By the early 1920s, a second “new school” opened on Fermanagh Avenue.

Over the decades, while the buildings have evolved, our commitment to providing a strong, faith-based education has remained constant. Generations of dedicated staff have helped shape a vibrant Catholic learning community rooted in tradition and excellence.
