On September 30, the Chaminade College School community gathered to observe Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
This solemn day serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of residential schools in Canada and the ongoing need for healing, justice, and meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.
As a Catholic school rooted in Marianist values, we understand that reconciliation involves more than remembering the past; it calls us to live our faith through truth, compassion, and a deep respect for the dignity of every person. By wearing orange and taking time for reflection, students and staff affirmed the message that "Every Child Matters," honouring the children who never returned home and standing in solidarity with survivors and their families.
As Blessed William Joseph Chaminade reminds us, "We are all missionaries; each of us is sent to continue the work of Christ." In this spirit, we commit ourselves to walking the path of reconciliation with humility, courage, and love.
