In the spirit of March Break, students in Mr. Grossi’s Grade 9 Science classes took their learning outdoors by collecting sap from the maple trees in front of Chaminade College School.
After gathering enough sap, the classes spent the day boiling it down and evaporating the excess water, an essential step in the maple syrup-making process. Through patience and teamwork, students were rewarded with Chaminade’s very own homemade maple syrup.
This hands-on activity was a wonderful way for students to connect science with a Canadian tradition while experiencing the process of turning maple sap into syrup firsthand.
