Today, September 30, Chaminade College School honoured National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day through its “Seeds of Change: An Orange HeART Project.”
Building on the success of last year’s initiative, classes came together to design and create orange hearts, led by the Equity team. Each heart represents a student’s reflection and commitment to learning, remembering and supporting the ongoing journey of reconciliation. Students used the hearts as a creative way to reflect on the importance of Truth and Reconciliation and demonstrate solidarity with Indigenous Peoples.
The completed hearts came together as a collective display, symbolizing the school community’s shared commitment to learning, remembering and taking meaningful steps toward reconciliation. Together, the hearts create a visual reminder that reconciliation is a shared responsibility.
Through this initiative, Chaminade continues to foster learning, reflection and meaningful action in support of Indigenous Peoples and communities. The school is proud of the thoughtful participation of its students and staff and grateful for the opportunity to continue creating spaces for learning, reflection, dialogue and action.
Today, we remember, we reflect and we commit to being part of the journey toward reconciliation.
