On Monday, October 26, Chaminade College School’s Black Student Association (BSA) welcomed back two former students, Gilbert Manu and Emmanuel Darko, for a mentorship session. Gilbert is a student-athlete at Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, while Emmanuel is currently studying at Seneca College in Toronto. Gilbert joined us virtually from his dorm room at Saint Mary’s University, while Emmanuel came to Chaminade after finishing his security shift to speak with our students.

Despite their busy schedules, both alumni took the time to share their different experiences, challenges and advice with the boys.

They addressed the challenges of transitioning to college and university, the importance of Black representation, and the realities of pursuing academic and athletic goals. Their experiences reminded students that success requires discipline, perseverance and making the right decisions.

The BSA would like to thank Gilbert and Emmanuel for taking the time to return to Chaminade, share their experiences and inspire our students.
