In the spirit of unity, Father Henry Carr (FHC) Catholic Secondary School’s Basketball Team (416 Engagement) and the Toronto Police Basketball team come together on the court during early February, proving that building trust and respect is a slam dunk towards a safer and stronger community.

The event was widely attended by community members and stakeholders including, families, superintended Ms. Cifelli, staff and over 200 students. The game also featured presentations from TCDSB Student Trustee Joygold Goodluck singing the National Anthem and the FHC cheerleading team.

Staff members from FHC, Charles Agyemang also played on the Toronto Police Basketball team to further show the unity and partnership that exists.

This game reinforced the central goal of safety, reminding us of the positive relationships and understanding between law enforcement, as well as highlighting that community members are the key to scoring a win for everyone.

Following the game, the FHC Basketball team players, community members and Toronto Police engaged in several dialogue and mentorship opportunity over a dinner.

This was the start of an excellent annual event, which will continue in the future.
