In their first year back after a 4-year hiatus, the Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School's Junior Prep Crusaders competed in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) Development League. This is the highest level of junior boys' basketball in Canada.
Our team started the season by capturing the 2025 Junior Crusader Classic. During the exhibition and regular season, they faced all of the best junior teams during the season. In the first round of the D League Playofs, they defeated Victory Prep 89-83 to advance to the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, we lost by 8 points to the #1 ranked BCP North team, but not without maintaining a healthy lead for a large chunk of the game.
The team played their hearts out all season long and represented FHC and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) in fine fashion. We were easily the most-improved team in this ultra-competitive league. Special kudos to Trevor Iwuafor and Caiyahs St Louis on being named to the All Star Game and to Efrain Martinez on being named to the All Defense Team.
After a 4-year hiatus from playing at this level, we have done a tremendous job restarting the program with the proper balance of values. We want to congratulate the players & coaches and thank the entire school staff for your continued support. A special thanks to the administration team, Mr Connolly, Ms Martins, and Mr Malfitano for believing in this vision. If it takes a village to raise a child, then it at least takes an entire school to run a prep program of this magnitude.
