On Friday, June 6, 2025, 17 students from Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School in Etobicoke travelled to St. Francis Table at Queen Street West and Dufferin to serve fish and chips, coffee and tea, and a variety of desserts to 140 of Toronto’s less fortunate.
In the background of the photo is Franciscan friar Brother John, who oversaw the students as they carried out their various acts of service. And there was no shortage of work to be done. The students took on roles as waiters, busboys, scrapers, platers, and dishwashers—some even lending a hand in the kitchen.
After a morning of dedicated service, the students shared a sense of accomplishment as they sat down together to enjoy their own plate of fish and chips.
“O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, aflame with love for us, we offer our poor hearts to you. Amen.”
