Dillon Brooks, an alumnus of Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School, was recognized with the 2025 Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) Alumni Award.
The award was given during a ceremony, with Brooks' former coach, Paul Melnik. Dillon who was not able to attend the ceremony as the Houston Rockets were in the playoffs, made an appearance at Father Henry Carr’s school athletic banquet. Here he was presented with the 2025 TCDSB Alumni Award with Principal Mr. Francesco Malfitano and Coach Paul Melnik. Here he also presented awards to the male and female athletes of the year.
Dillon Brooks, the Canadian NBA player currently with the Houston Rockets, has a strong connection to Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School (FHC) in Toronto, where he played high school basketball from 2010 to 2013. During his time there, he led the Crusaders to three undefeated seasons and multiple championships, including back-to-back Toronto Catholic Junior Championships and an Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Silver Medal.
In recent years, Brooks has given back to his alma mater by becoming the primary sponsor of FHC's Senior Boys Prep Program. His support includes financial contributions and a complete Nike sponsorship for all team members, covering uniforms and transportation.
In December 2024, FHC honored Brooks with the inaugural "Dillon Brooks Cup," The event included a ceremony where Brooks' Rockets jersey was framed and displayed, and a mural of him was unveiled in the school gymnasium. Additionally, Brooks provided tickets and a meet-and-greet for the Houston Rockets vs. Toronto Raptors game, where he scored 27 points in a victory.
Brooks has often credited his high school coach, Paul Melnik, with shaping his career. He has expressed a desire to ensure the continuation of the program that played a significant role in his development .
