At Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School, six students distinguished themselves by achieving the highest results on the recent Ontario EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) mathematics assessment, demonstrating exceptional skill, perseverance, and confidence in their mathematical learning. Among them was Prince Joshua D., who achieved a near-perfect score of 4.9, placing him among the highest-scoring students in the province of Ontario. This marks the second consecutive year that students from Father Henry Carr have earned top EQAO mathematics results, reflecting the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence.

The students’ outstanding performance highlights not only their individual dedication, but also the strong culture of learning and achievement fostered within the school community. These exceptional results place the students among Ontario’s top achievers and underscore Father Henry Carr’s focus on developing high levels of numeracy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

This success is the result of unwavering support, collaboration, and teamwork across the entire school community. The exemplary leadership of the administration team—Mr. Francesco Malfitano (Principal), Ms. Angela Martins (Vice-Principal), and Ms. Jennifer Cicero (Vice-Principal)—along with the guidance and encouragement of Ms. Jenny Gazzaruso from the Guidance Office, played a key role in supporting student achievement. The expertise and dedication of the mathematics department, led by Mr. Darryl Stroszka (Math Department Head) and supported by Mr. Alberto Sala, Ms. Lori Tayag, and Ms. Amanda King, were instrumental in preparing students for success. Equally important was the consistent support of parents, who reinforced learning at home and encouraged positive study habits.

School-wide, the high performance of these top scorers contributes positively to Father Henry Carr’s academic profile, inspires other students to aim high, and fosters a shared sense of pride and accomplishment. Overall, this achievement reinforces a culture where teamwork, dedication, and support lead to excellence for the entire school community.
