Last year, Rise in STEM was selected for the Toronto Maple Leafs x LG Canada Community Heroes Program in recognition of their work championing STEM learning and leadership among young people in the community. This recognition was celebrated at Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School during a Lunch and Learn program, where Rise In STEM was presented with a $20,000 donation to support its education and athletics programming, along with an invitation to attend a Toronto Maple Leafs game.

On Tuesday, January 27, we had the opportunity to attend the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Sabres game at the Scotiabank Arena, and were given 40 tickets, allowing community members to attend, including 20 Father Henry Carr students and staff. During the game, the Toronto Maple Leafs honoured legend Darryl Sittler and marked the 50th anniversary of his historic 10-point game in 1976, an NHL record that still stands today.

The evening was a meaningful celebration of an iconic moment in Maple Leafs history, while also recognizing the organization's impact and celebrating young people and community leadership.
