The Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School Black Student Association (BSA) proudly hosted its Afrochella African Canadian Heritage celebration on Friday, February 27, bringing the school community together for a powerful and inspiring celebration of Canadian Black History Month.
The event showcased the incredible talent within the school, featuring dynamic performances and presentations from members of the Father Henry Carr BSA, Choir, Dance Club, Drama Team, and more. From music and dance to spoken word and dramatic performances, students demonstrated creativity, confidence, and cultural pride in truly meaningful ways.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Stephanie Plummer, who spearheaded the event, along with Pam Trower, Emily Theophylactou, Mary Bently, and the entire BSA for their dedication, leadership, and countless hours of work behind the scenes. Special recognition goes to Oge Ezekwere, Joy Amissah-Okubadejo, Moyo Olatunbosun, David Umeh, Sara Kahsay, and Lindsay Ibezim for their important contributions. Their commitment ensured that the event was not only successful but also impactful and memorable for all who attended.
The talent displayed by students was truly exceptional, and Afrochella was a fitting and uplifting way to conclude Black History Month at Father Henry Carr. The BSA looks forward to continuing to host engaging student events throughout the year, so stay tuned for what’s coming next.
