Coach Paul Melnik of Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School was recently featured on the PHNX Sports show to discuss the growth and development of Dillon Brooks, as a player from High School to the University of Oregon and the NBA. Dillon Brooks is an alumnus of Father Henry Carr, and Coach Melnik speaks in great depth about Dillon’s drive and determination to be better every day, the same foundation that his teams are built on over the years. Dillon embodies all the very characteristics Coach Melnik attempts to instill in all his players, which has led to significant program and individual player success.

Coach Paul Melnik has been at the helm of Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School's Crusader Basketball program for over two decades. As the Head Coach since 2003, Paul Melnik has become one of the most highly respected Canadian high-school basketball coaches, best known for building the powerhouse program at Father Henry Carr.

During his tenure as head Coach he has led the team to various championship-level AAA appearances at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations Championship (OFSAA), including a Gold in AAA Boys' OFSAA 2016. Coach Melnik, with the support of Charles Agyemang, has also created the most dominant high school Junior program, which has won the AAA Senior Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA) Championship twice under his leadership.

Coach Melnik is credited with establishing the first prep basketball program in the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) system. The program attracted top prospects and created a pathway for Canadian players to earn NCAA and U.S. prep-school scholarships. Coach Melnik is well known for developing elite talent in Canada with players such as Tyler Ennis, Sim Bhullar, and, most notably, current Phoenix Suns star Dillon Brooks.

Father Henry Carr is proud of Coach Paul Melnik's dedication to the students and athletes of Father Henry Carr and the Prep Basketball program!
