At Father Henry Carr, our community came together to recognize this important occasion, providing meaningful opportunities for students and staff to deepen their understanding of neurodiversity, promote inclusion, and demonstrate support for individuals within our community and beyond.
In recognition of World Autism Awareness Day, a series of activities were organized throughout the week to celebrate neurodiversity and foster a culture of belonging. Morning announcements helped build awareness by sharing key information and encouraging students to reflect on how they can contribute to a more inclusive school environment. A “Wear Blue Day” further unified the school community in a visible show of support.
On April 2, students were welcomed into the school with autism awareness stickers, sparking conversation and reinforcing a shared message of acceptance. During lunch, students participated in a collaborative “NeuroMosaic” initiative, where they wrote their names on puzzle pieces. These pieces were then displayed together in the main foyer, forming a collective visual representation of our commitment to inclusion and the idea that every individual plays an important role in our school community.
Together, these initiatives reflect Father Henry Carr’s ongoing commitment to building an inclusive school environment. By engaging students in both awareness and action, we continue to foster a community where all individuals feel empowered to belong.
