Becoming the Canvas: Father Henry Carr Hosts Third Annual Black Professionals Career Fair

Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School was proud to host its third annual Black Professionals Career Fair on May 26, 2026. Originally founded three years ago by three students, Mr. C. Agyemang, Ms. S. Plummer, and Mr. F. Malfitano, the event continues to grow as an important opportunity to celebrate Black excellence and inspire students through mentorship, representation, and community connection.

This year’s theme, “The Art of Black Expression: Becoming the Canvas,” showcased over 40 different professions and highlighted a diverse range of pathways for students to explore. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to speak with professionals from a wide range of careers, trades, businesses, and artistic industries. These conversations encouraged students to think about their futures and recognize the importance of representation across different fields.

The event brought together students, staff, professionals, and community members in an empowering environment. The impact of the day extended beyond the school community, as the event was featured on CityNews that evening, helping to bring positive awareness to the Rexdale community and the meaningful work taking place at Father Henry Carr.

We are incredibly grateful to all the professionals, volunteers, staff, and students who contributed to making this year’s event such a memorable success.
