Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School (FHC) is proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of its Track and Field team over the past two days at the Metros Championships.

Competing against top athletes from public, Catholic, and private schools across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), FHC athletes demonstrated grit, resilience, determination, and tremendous school pride.

The following relay teams will be advancing to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships:

Senior Girls 4x100 metre relay (Sarina, Mariah W., Josel, Amber, Leah, Azalea)

Senior Boys 4x100 metre relay (Ugo, Nathan O., Tristan B., Jahleel H., Nahshon, Darvelle)

Junior Boys 4x100 metre relay (Nathan S., Kymoni, Jeremiah W., Jayden B., Jaylen W., Bohumi)

Novice Boys 4x100 metre relay, who also broke a Metro record that had stood since 1983 (Jaylen B., Prince D., Daniel T., EJ Henry, Nigel W., Emmanuel O.)

FHC also had several outstanding individual performances, with the following athletes advancing:

Daniel T. in the Novice Boys 100 metre and 200 metre events

Mariah W. in the Senior Girls 400 metre and 200 metre events

Sarina in the Senior Girls 100 metre hurdles

Tristan B. in the Senior Boys high jump and long jump

Jahleel H. in the Senior Boys 100 metre and 200 metre events

Qualifying for Metros alone is an incredible achievement, and every athlete who represented FHC should be proud. These students competed at one of the highest levels of high school athletics in the province, and their effort, courage, and commitment deserve recognition.

As educators, we recognize that while academics are important, students will carry with them the lessons learned through sport, the adversity they overcame, the friendships they built, and the pride they felt representing their school. Experiences like these help shape confidence, resilience, discipline, and character in meaningful ways.

A sincere thank you goes to all staff members who continue to encourage, congratulate, and support student athletes throughout the season. Your encouragement has a lasting impact.

The school also extends sincere gratitude to Martina, Chamoun, Bashir, Donna, Mike, Louis, Mark, Jonathan, Bako, Stephanie, and Jen T. for their ongoing support of the team. Your time, encouragement, and commitment are deeply valued.

Special thanks to Coach Peter M., who, although retired from FHC, continues to support the program with guidance and dedication.

Finally, thank you to Principal Mr. Malfitano for his unwavering support of the program and student athletes. His leadership and commitment continue to strengthen the school community and athletic culture at Father Henry Carr.

The team will compete at OFSAA from June 3 to June 6 in St. Catharines. Staff support is encouraged as students represent FHC at the provincial level.
