Students at Holy Angels Catholic School have been actively engaging in Canada’s largest recreational reading initiative, the Forest of Reading Program. This week, young readers at the school participated in voting for their favourite Blue Spruce nominees, a category that highlights outstanding children’s literature by Canadian authors.
The school’s library has been buzzing with excitement as students explored the carefully selected stories, immersing themselves in a diverse range of books. The Blue Spruce nominees have provided an opportunity for the students not only to enjoy reading but also to take part in a democratic process by casting their votes for the stories they found most captivating.
A special thank you goes out to the Holy Angels Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC), whose generous funding made it possible for the school to participate in this national reading initiative. The CSPC’s support has enabled the students to experience the magic of literature while building a strong community of young readers.
With the votes in and excitement at its peak, the school looks forward to seeing which Blue Spruce book will emerge as the students' top choice.
The Forest of Reading Program continues to be an enriching experience, encouraging children across Canada to explore new books and deepen their love of reading.
