On March 5 (Tuesday), Marshall McLuhan Catholic Secondary School hosted and competed in the 2024 Poetry In Voice East Toronto English Stream Regional Competition. The team of JR A. (Grade 11), Olivia S. (Grade 10) and Samantha C. (Grade 12) placed first. McLuhan is celebrating back-to-back wins, as they also placed first in the 2023 regional competition. The judging panel was impressed by the team’s selection of poems and their skillful recitation. The winning team members were each gifted $100.
The team competed against Pickering College, St. Clement’s School, Toronto French School, University of Toronto Schools and Zion Heights Junior High School.
Special thanks to the English teachers who ran individual classroom poetry contests, and to all the students who participated in the school’s poetry contest.
