Science Rendezvous is a national festival supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), designed to promote STEAM education through experiential learning and public engagement. It stands as Canada’s largest celebration of scientific and engineering achievements, bringing together motivated STEAM learners from across the country to complete challenges, explore Canadian research, solve problems, and compete on a national level. Also, the festival is organized and led in collaboration with Canada’s top researchers and leading research institutes.
The students' experience was meaningful, as Olivia S. shares, "As a participant in the University of Toronto's Science Rendezvous event, it was truly an inspiring and amazing event to be at. Not only did my partner and I have the privilege of sharing our research and being awarded for it, but we also had the opportunity to learn from others and their hard work, as it reminded us of the vast and diverse fields of science found within our world. I appreciated the dedicated staff and student volunteers who offered valuable advice and encouragement throughout the event. I have truly grown and learned from this opportunity and experience."
We are also pleased to share that Olivia S. has been accepted into the prestigious Science Unlimited Summer Camp at the University of Toronto, taking place from August 18 to 22, 2025. This highly competitive program admits only fifty students from across the province, making Olivia’s acceptance an exceptional accomplishment.
Congratulations once again to the McLuhan students for their excellence and commitment to advancing in STEAM, and to the Science Department teachers for their dedication to providing students with opportunities and guidance to reach their full potential!
