Congratulations to the team of Zeanna V.-R. (Grade 10), Sonya L. (Grade 11), and Olivia S. (Grade 12) who placed FIRST in the 2026 Poetry in Voice Toronto Team Regional Competition. Each student earned $150 in prize money and the team earned $300 for the school. The judges were very impressed with their choices of poems and their skillful recitations.
We also applaud the efforts of our second team of Ken T. (Grade 9), JJ O. (Grade 10), and Princess R. (Grade 11). This was the first time that this team competed in this prestigious event and they held their own against strong competition from Earl Haig Secondary School and Parkdale Collegiate.
Our school has now earned 1st Place standing in 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2026!
This competition cannot take place without the commitment of our English teachers to promote poetry recitation, hold class competitions, and help organize the school poetry competition.
We look forward to another successful year of competition!
