On Thursday, March 26, the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) Skills Ontario TV/Video Production Provincial Qualifier was held at the Catholic Education Centre. Elementary Guidance Teachers Mr. Amato and Mr. Ferrari hosted ten teams from across the board for a full day of production.
Teams were given three and a half hours to plan, film, edit, and produce a one-minute video based on the theme, “Skilled Trades Are All Around Us.” The judging panel for the day consisted of James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School’s Mr. Summaria, Elementary Guidance Teacher Counsellor Mr. Panozzo, and Experiential Learning Lead Ms. Morassutti. This event served as a qualifier for the Skills Ontario Provincial Competition, which will be held in May.
Congratulations to Olivia V. and Lorena Asnaran M. of Transfiguration of Our Lord Catholic Elementary School for taking first place in the competition. Cariana C. and Lauren Y. of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Elementary School placed second, while Josie A. and Monty H. of St. Louis Catholic Elementary School rounded out the podium in third place.
The top two teams will now represent the TCDSB at the Skills Ontario Provincial Competition. Best of luck to both students and their coaches.
