Students and staff at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School came together to celebrate Catholic Education Week from May 4 to 8 through a series of engaging and faith-centered activities organized by the school’s Learning About My Brothers and Sisters (L.A.M.B.S.) Club.

Throughout the week, the club encouraged students to deepen their faith, celebrate kindness, and strengthen their sense of community through interactive events and school-wide participation.

The celebrations began on Monday, May 4, with “Bible Trivia & Trinkets.” Junior and intermediate students tested their knowledge through Bible-themed trivia questions, while younger students in the ELP and primary grades enjoyed colouring sheets and Jesus-themed stickers. Mini crosses were also distributed as part of the day’s activities.

On Tuesday, May 5, L.A.M.B.S. members hosted “Spotted by a Lamb,” recognizing students who demonstrated acts of kindness in the schoolyard during third recess. Students seen helping or supporting others were rewarded with mini lambs and stickers to encourage compassion and positive behaviour.

Midweek activities continued on Wednesday, May 6, with “We Are Many, We Are One.” Classes from across the school contributed to a collaborative cross display located in the school’s second-floor hallway. Using heart stamps and washable paint, students left their marks inside the cross, symbolizing unity, faith, and community spirit.

On Thursday, May 7, students took part in “Bible Bingo,” a school-wide game held at 2 p.m. in classrooms across the school. The winning class received a pizza party. Organizers also extended a special thank you to Mme. L’Abadie for helping lead the initiative and supporting the L.A.M.B.S. team.

The week concluded on Friday, May 8, with “He Has Risen! We Are Saved!”, a celebration of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. Students were encouraged to wear white, and worship music played over the school’s P.A. system during an outdoor lunch gathering that brought the entire school community together in celebration.

Catholic Education Week is celebrated annually across Ontario Catholic schools and highlights the values of faith, community, and service. At St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, this year’s activities reflected those values while creating memorable experiences for students and staff alike.
