Congratulations to Ehi E., Beverly O., Victoria E., Gloria E., Naomi M. and Alba B.P. on being silver medalists at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) track and field championships in Ottawa on Thursday, June 8 and Friday, June 9.
Despite the rainy weather during the semi-finals, these girls who represented St. John Henry Newman Catholic High School had flawless handoffs and qualified for the finals the following day.
In the finals, Ehi got out of the blocks quickly and had a perfect handoff to her teammate Gloria. The girls were initially in fourth position after the second exchange. However, once Beverly got the baton, she sped up bringing the team to second position. Her teammate Victoria easily cruised the team home to a silver medal podium finish. The Newman Community is so proud of what this team accomplished in three short months. Way to go!
