On Friday, February 27, St. John Henry Newman Catholic High School and St. Mother Teresa Catholic Academy came together to celebrate African Canadian Heritage Month. Their Cultural Exposé entitled Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future showcased African drumming, Caribbean Folk Dance, an Afro Modern Medley, Gospel Dance, Spoken Word, Ethnic Fusion, and a Cultural Fashion Show.

Local elementary schools attended the morning show, and their young students performed an African dance, a musical piece on the piano, and poetry.

The African diaspora was represented through Habeshan, Afro-Latin, Caribbean and African cultures showcased through art, movement, and fashion. Over 1000 students, staff, and parents attended this year's event.
