On May 1, 2025 (Thursday), the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, St. Joseph’s College School celebrated with a school Mass and the Blessing of the painting "St. Joseph and the Child Jesus" by Emmaus O’Herlihy, OSB. The painting was donated by Ralph Bertram, former chaplain of the school.
As Catholic Christians, we continue to be blessed with the works of artists that remind us of God’s presence and action through the lives of those who have gone before us. Our faith and our devotion are strengthened and enriched by these images. The Sisters of St. Joseph trusted in the help and intercession of St. Joseph to found a school for young women in downtown Toronto.
In recent memory, when the future of our school was threatened, our entire community prayed every Wednesday a novena to St. Joseph that: St. Joseph’s College School, founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, continue to be a witness to Catholic education at 74 Wellesley Street West.
Our school is 171 years strong and we are grateful for this very generous gift of sacred art!
