St. Joseph College School (SJCS) and St. Joseph’s Morrow Park (SJMP) set off on a March Break adventure to explore Austria, Germany and Switzerland from March 13–22, 2026.
Our adventure began with a walking tour of Vienna. Over the next day and a half, we experienced Vienna’s iconic sites, along with an evening of classical music, opera and ballet.
After leaving Vienna, we spent time in Salzburg, where we learned about the history of the city. We also took The Sound of Music tour, visiting famous landmarks from the film.
Next, we travelled to Munich to enjoy the vibrant city and some of its notable sites, including the Olympic Stadium, the Munich Cathedral, the Glockenspiel at Marienplatz and the New Town Hall, to name a few. While in Munich, we were given the opportunity to visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site, where we learned, remembered and reflected on the events of the Holocaust.
As we left Munich, we had a guided visit of Linderhof Palace and caught a glimpse of Neuschwanstein Castle. On our way to Switzerland, we stopped to explore Innsbruck, Austria, and Vaduz, Liechtenstein.
Once in Switzerland, we explored the city of Lucerne, visiting the Lion Monument, Kapellbrücke and Lake Lucerne, and enjoying some famous Swiss chocolate. In the afternoon, we headed to the Swiss Alps, riding a gondola up Mount Pilatus.
On the final leg of our adventure, we returned to Germany, stopping to explore Freiburg and Heidelberg. We thoroughly enjoyed discovering each city and indulging in many culinary treats!
