Grade 12 student Ping Du Mont from St. Joseph’s Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School has been named one of 13 national recipients of the 2025 Terry Fox Humanitarian Award (TFHA). The award recognizes youth who exemplify Terry Fox’s values of courage, perseverance, and service through outstanding humanitarian work.

Selected from a national pool of applicants, Ping is among the top 1% chosen for her dedication to improving research, policy, and practices that impact the health of children and youth.

“These recipients contribute to a powerful impact network in communities throughout Canada,” said Paulina Chow-White, CEO of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award program. “Hope inspires, and each recipient is an integral part of Terry’s legacy in motion.”

“I believe we all hold the power to change the world in positive ways. There is strength in numbers, and I look forward to working with other Terry Fox Humanitarian Award recipients as we take up the challenge,” said Ping.

In addition to her advocacy, Ping remains active in her local community, helping to raise funds for food banks, women’s shelters, and those experiencing homelessness. She will begin her post-secondary studies in Health & Society at York University this fall.

Now in its 43rd year, the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award continues to honour Terry Fox’s legacy by supporting young Canadians committed to creating hope and positive change in their communities.
