On October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the Central Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Resource Team hosted their annual SHSM Sector Days at St. Joseph Morrow Park C.S.S.
These informative professional development sessions allowed SHSM teams to review policy updates from the Ministry of Education, examine board and program-specific school data, learn about new budget tracking practices, and share resources and community contacts that enhance program delivery.
The SHSM teams also explored connections between various pathway programs, specifically how Dual Credit and Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) support SHSM students.
The Central Team highlighted strong community partnerships and provided a list of centrally organized Sector-Partnered Experiences (SPE) and certifications. The team is excited to connect schools with new industry partners offering quality programming for students.
We are deeply appreciative of the tremendous work our SHSM teams do to support students. SHSM Liaison Teachers volunteer their time and go above and beyond their regular teaching duties, recognizing the positive impact the SHSM program has on students’ lives.
We are also pleased to officially recognize the three new TCDSB SHSM programs approved by the Ministry of Education for the 2025–2026 school year:
St. John Henry Newman – Arts and Culture
St. John Henry Newman – Health and Wellness
Madonna – Arts and Culture
In the 2025–2026 school year, the TCDSB will offer 88 SHSM programs in 11 economic sectors across 30 schools.
