In the summer of 2026, National Geographic Explorer and Toronto-based educator Sarah Gallah, a teacher at St. Joseph's Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School, boarded a sailboat with marine conservationist Rachael Miller to learn forensic fiber analysis methodologies. For a week Gallah peppered Miller — who has built a career tracing microplastics and microfibers through lakes, rivers and oceans — with every question she thought her 10th-grade students might ask. The trip is the latest example of how Gallah brings her own hands-on learning directly to the classroom, turning her curiosity into real scientific work for her students.
