At St. Oscar Romero Catholic Secondary School, we are proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Diana N., a Grade 12 student, who earned a medal at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, a prestigious literary recognition program founded in 1923. Her poem, "Soldier Boy", was selected from thousands of entries worldwide, earning her the National Gold Medal and American Voices Award.
In May, Diana traveled to New York City to attend the awards ceremony, where she received her award in front of esteemed figures from the literary world.
Adding to this amazing accomplishment, she has recently received an early offer of admission from the English Language and Literature Department at the University of Chicago.
Diana's talent, creativity, dedication to her craft, and perseverance truly embody the spirit of excellence we strive to encourage in all our students at Romero.
We congratulate Diana on her success and look forward to seeing the impact she will undoubtedly make in the literary world!
