As part of our commitment to civic education, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy participated in Student Vote Canada, a national program that provides students with the opportunity to experience the voting process firsthand.
On April 28, 2025 (Monday), students cast ballots for the actual candidates running in our local electoral district as part of a parallel election. The goal was to help students explore the issues, understand the voting process, and begin to see themselves as informed and engaged citizens.
Classroom resources supported an understanding of civic literacy, the concept of democracy and elections, government and representation in Canada, and how to effectively participate as active and informed citizens in their community.
With appreciation to Ms. Fracassi and her student leaders in supporting the organization and running of this opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and continue to develop as responsible citizens.
