Students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy participated in the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) test on November 12, 2025, with the leadership and support of Mr. Raymond Sarkissian, Mathematics Department Head. The results will be posted in about 4 to 6 weeks.

The CEMC, based at the University of Waterloo in Canada, plays a major role in mathematics education both in Canada and internationally. Its mission is to inspire and support students and educators in the fields of mathematics and computing. The Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest (CSMC) is one of many contests that run for Grade 11 and 12 students. They are designed to give students the opportunity to have fun and develop their mathematical problem-solving abilities.

As per the famous quote by Vince Lombardi: "Winning is not everything, but making the effort to win is." What is important for the Math students at SJOA is the process and the effort dedicated to achieving their learning goals of excellence in mathematics. The Grade 12 students at SJOA will compete again on March 31, 2026, when they participate in the Euclid Mathematics Contest.

We are very proud of our aspiring Maverick Mathematicians and their ongoing commitment to their academics and pursuit of excellence!
