SJOA Grade 10 Science Students Participate in Experiential Learning at Ripley's Aquarium of Canada

On January 9, 2026, Grade 10 Science students from St. Joan of Arc (SJOA) Catholic Academy participated in an experiential learning Squid Dissection Classroom Workshop at Ripley’s Aquarium. During this hands-on experience, students took part in a guided dissection, developing laboratory and dissection skills while exploring the anatomy of the squid and learning about the functions of its body systems. Students also learned about the effects of climate change and ocean acidification on squid and other marine life.

Students had the opportunity to explore the various galleries at Ripley’s Aquarium and observe a wide variety of aquatic species. Some students also had the chance to interact with and touch stingrays at the Shoreline Gallery.

Thank you to the staff and facilitators at Ripley’s Aquarium for providing an engaging and educational experience for our students. A special thank you to Sandra Morassutti, Experiential Learning Resource Teacher, for supporting this unique learning opportunity. Thank you as well to Science teachers Ms. Chan, Mr. Cellucci, Mr. Hoang, and Ms. Mathew for supporting and facilitating this valuable experience for our science students.
