St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy's Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students from Non-Profit, Education and Childcare program recently traded the classroom for the lecture halls of Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). This immersive excursion provided a firsthand look at post-secondary life and the intricacies of financial decision-making.

The day kicked off with an energetic campus tour, where students explored TMU’s urban landscape and state-of-the-art facilities. The highlight of the trip, however, was an academic session led by Dr. Daniel Tut. Students attended a sample lecture and workshop focused on Valuation—the fascinating process of determining what an asset or organization is truly worth.

Through a series of mini case studies, our students applied critical thinking skills to real-world scenarios, bridging the gap between their SHSM pathways and the professional world. Whether they are interested in managing a non-profit or leading an educational institution, understanding the "value" of resources is a vital skill for their future careers.

With thanks to TMU, Ms. Diana Eno, SHSM Lead, and our SHSM students for their participation in this valuable student learning opportunity.
