On April 13, over 50 Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students from St. Joan of Arc attended a field trip to the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, representing the Health and Wellness and Non-Profit, Child Care and Education sectors.

The day provided a meaningful and informative experience, as students heard from current post-secondary students who shared insights into their programs, including academic expectations, workload, and the transition from secondary to post-secondary studies. Students also participated in presentations outlining the application process and offering practical guidance on gaining admission to a range of programs.

Throughout the visit, students explored a variety of career pathways in public health, health care, and community services. A key focus was understanding the connection between public health policy and clinical practice, and how these work together to support community well-being.

Overall, the experience helped students connect their SHSM learning to future post-secondary pathways and gain a clearer understanding of opportunities in health, education, and community-focused fields.
