The March sisters are waiting for you.
You know their names. You've heard their story—or you think you have. Four sisters in a Civil War-era parlour, learning to be good, getting married, growing up. Sweet. Nostalgic. Safe.
But that's not the whole truth.
On November 20 and 21, the Drama Department of Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts is excited to share this beautiful play Little Women and The Making of Little Women which will begin at 7:00 PM in our lobby.
This is a story about girls who are furious—at poverty, at a father who abandoned them for principles, at a world that demands they be small and quiet and grateful. It's about a sister who burns her sibling's life's work in a moment of rage. About another who nearly drowns because of it. About a girl so good she disappears entirely, and the ones left behind who have to figure out how to keep living.
It's about Jo March, who wants to write and be free and never marry, facing the cruelest truth: even in a story she inspired, even in a book written by a woman who understood her completely, she still doesn't get to choose herself.
Little Women isn't about becoming ladies. It's about the violence of being forced to grow up when you're not ready. It's about what we sacrifice for the people we love, and whether that sacrifice makes us noble or just... smaller.
Come early. Stay late. Bring someone you love, or someone you've hurt, or someone you're trying to forgive.
The March family parlour is waiting. And this time, you'll see everything.
