Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts is proud to celebrate our Vocal Music and Social Science teacher Julia Brotto, who is a member of the Canadian Chamber Choir, a professional ensemble recently nominated for a 2026 JUNO Award.
The choir received a nomination for Classical Album of the Year (Large Ensemble) for their album Where Waters Meet, which features the music of Indigenous Cree composer Sherryl Sewepagaham, alongside works by Hussein Janmohamed and Carmen Braden. The album includes compositions sung in the Cree language and reflects a powerful collaboration between diverse Canadian voices and musical traditions.
Founded and directed by Dr. Julia Davids, the Canadian Chamber Choir is a professional, auditioned ensemble dedicated exclusively to the performance and promotion of Canadian choral music. Its singers come from across the country, from Newfoundland and Labrador to British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, and the ensemble is committed to celebrating Canadian identity through performance, education, and community engagement.
Julia has been singing with the Canadian Chamber Choir since Fall 2022 and has toured with the ensemble in Nova Scotia, Southwestern Ontario, and Alberta.
The 2026 JUNO Awards will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Congratulations and best wishes to Julia and the Canadian Chamber Choir on this outstanding national recognition.
