The Toronto Blue Jays are not the only Toronto team having an incredible season! After last Friday’s meet, it’s clear that Michael Power – St. Joseph High School’s Cross Country team is also celebrating an amazing year.

On Friday, the team competed in the Toronto District Catholic Athletic Association (TDCAA) Championship Meet at Sunnybrook Park. All of our student-athletes ran exceptionally well, with many achieving personal bests for the season. Coaches are extremely proud of the team’s hard work, dedication, and growth throughout the year. The Power Pride and sportsmanship shown by our runners toward one another and other schools have truly been inspiring.

Friday’s race also served as the qualification meet for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championship—and we are thrilled to announce that Power is sending nine runners to OFSAA this year!

Congratulations to Aidan C. and Sophie S., who both finished first in their respective races, and to John C., who placed 12th in the Junior Boys race. These outstanding results qualified all three for OFSAA. In addition, our Senior Girls team ran a strong, cohesive race and also qualified as a team.

OFSAA will take place on Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, at Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton. Please join us in wishing all our runners the best of luck as they represent Power on the provincial stage!

A special shoutout goes to our Grade 9 Girls, who also ran extremely well and narrowly missed qualifying—an excellent effort from start to finish.

Thank you to all the staff and supporters who cheered on the team throughout the season. Your encouragement has meant so much to our athletes and coaches alike.
