Grade 10 Drama students at Michael Power/St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School had the unique opportunity to work with Tarragon Theatre and award-winning performer and producer Justin Miller, who has taught at Stratford Festival, Queen's University, and Randolph College for the Performing Arts.

Through this experience, students explored the fundamental tenets of theatrical clowning through engaging games and exercises inspired by physical forms and performance styles such as Pochinko clowning, commedia dell’arte, bouffon, and butoh. They learned to tap into their impulses and imaginations while embracing the risk, surprise, and joy that come from connecting with their peers.

The Michael Power/St. Joseph’s Drama program is extremely grateful to Justin Miller and Tarragon Theatre for their continued support of arts education in public schools.
