Red dresses hanging from trees

A powerful student-led installation at the front of the school is drawing attention and sparking meaningful conversations within the school community.

Ms. Bobeta’s classes created a series of red dresses to honour Indigenous women and girls who have gone missing or been killed. In addition, her Grade 11 Media class spent the week designing and assembling a “map of absence” displayed near the school’s main office, further emphasizing the impact of this issue.

Staff and students worked together to bring the installation to life, creating a striking visual display that has captured the attention of those passing by. The movement of the dresses in the wind has added to the installation’s impact, encouraging reflection and engagement.

The display has already prompted important discussions among students and staff, helping to raise awareness and deepen understanding of this significant issue.

Special recognition goes to the school’s Equity Lead, Ms. Thompson, and to Ms. Bobeta’s classes for their creativity, dedication, and meaningful contributions to this impactful project.
