Students and staff at Michael Power-St. Joseph High School had the extraordinary privilege of hosting Nobel Laureate, Setsuko Thurlow, on May 22 (Friday). During this powerful and moving presentation, Ms. Thurlow shared her personal experience as a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bombing and spoke passionately about her lifelong advocacy for nuclear disarmament and global peace. Through her story, students gained a deeper understanding of the devastating human and environmental impacts of nuclear warfare and reflected on the importance of compassion, resilience, and hope. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for students to engage with living history and consider their role as informed and responsible global citizens.

We are deeply grateful to Ms. Thurlow for sharing her experiences and inspiring our school community with her message of peace and humanity.
