We are asking each and every school to participate in the:
EARTH HOUR CHALLENGE
Friday, March 24, 2017
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Please register your school’s participation in this event by completing the survey below by March 10.
In order to promote awareness of the planned Global EARTH HOUR event, all TCDSB schools are encouraged to participate and demonstrate how we continue to be stewards of the earth.
On Friday March 24th between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. schools are asked to turn off lights where it is safe to do so, and where it will not adversely disrupt the normal classroom teaching.
Arrangements have also been made for all non-essential lighting to be turned off in our schools on Saturday, March 25th between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. (and longer where possible). Emergency lighting and morality lighting will remain on.
Before You Start Planning:
- Confirm with your Principal that your school has registered on the Board's Environmental Earth Hour Site.
- Registration on the Earth Hour website is not required.
Our Environmental Committee has prepared suggested activities and resources for schools to use when planning their Earth Hour event. Please note the attached resources that are available.
We hope that this material is helpful and will provide opportunity for all schools to participate. We thank our TCDSB Environment Committee for gathering all the material and for their enthusiasm in bringing awareness to these opportunities for learning and for the benefit of our planet.
