COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream (CVRIS) Projects

The Government of Canada is adapting the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program to respond to the impacts of COVID-19. The Program, delivered through bilateral agreements with provinces and territories, is being adjusted to add some flexibilities, expand project eligibility, and accelerate approvals.

A new temporary COVID-19 Resilience stream (CVRIS), with over $3 billion available in existing funding, has been created to provide provinces and territories with added flexibility to fund quick-start and short-term projects that might not otherwise be eligible under the existing funding streams.

The Toronto Catholic District School board (TCDSB) has received over $25.6 million in CVRIS funding to support over 430 school infrastructure projects.

TCDSB school infrastructure projects funded in part by the Governments of Canada and Ontario via the CVRIS program include:

  • Child Care updates:

    • 7 playground expansions/divisions

    • 8 separate entrance additions

    • 9 separate washroom additions

  • 22 cooling centres

  • 3 HVAC replacements

  • 27 kindergarten playground upgrades

  • 2 new mechanical ventilation systems

  • 25 nutrition program upgrades

  • 58 outdoor classrooms

  • 33 playground upgrades

  • 12 portable ventilation upgrades

  • 101 upgrades to handwashing equipment

  • 15 ventilation upgrades

  • 89 water bottle filling stations

  • 17 WiFi cabling infrastructure & access points enhancements

  • 7 window replacement projects
