Students at Brebeuf in the NBE3C and NBE3U Understanding Contemporary First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Voices English courses recently collaborated with author Kern Carter to write personal memoirs reflecting on transformative events in their lives.
Centred on a curriculum designed to honour the rich history of Indigenous storytelling traditions, this initiative allowed students to explore the power of narrative as a tool for healing and self expression.
Under the mentorship of Mr. Carter, the project highlighted the importance of mental health and provided students with an opportunity to grow as writers and leaders. As a highlight of this collaboration, six students were selected to have their stories officially published online. Their work can be viewed at oursomewhere.ca.
