On February 18, Francis Libermann Catholic High School's English Language Learners attended a calligraphy workshop at Woodside Square Library to celebrate the Year of the Horse. Chinese calligraphy is a Lunar New Year tradition believed to invite good fortune and ward off evil spirits. The Youth Hub librarians taught students about brush techniques and Chinese characters. Then students painted their own messages on red rice paper.
Thanks to the staff at Toronto Public Library for sharing their expertise!
