Students dancing together at the ISP Christmas Mingle

'Tis the season to be jolly! What better way to celebrate than to have a party. This past week, Madonna Catholic Secondary School hosted our first Intensive Support Program (ISP) Christmas Mingle. It was a great success, with over 100 DDME students and an additional 50+ staff members from four schools, all getting into the holiday spirt with games, dancing, prizes and even a talent show!

ISP classes from James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School, St. Basil-the-Great College School and St. Joseph's College School (Wellesley Street) came to Madonna to celebrate the Christmas fun! The visiting schools were greeted with cheering Madonna staff, as well as students from Mr. Griffith’s Religion class. The gymnasium was transformed into a winter wonderland filled with Christmas games, a photobooth and tasty treats. But the fun didn’t end here! Before lunch, the students performed in the Christmas talent show in Madonna’s theatre. The audience enjoyed an array of performances including dances and songs. In the afternoon, the students enjoyed a pizza lunch together and concluded the day with a dance, with music played by Madonna's very own DJ Daisy Do. Laughs and fun were had by all!

Thank you to all the schools that participated.

Thank you to Anna Augurusa and Dianna Duarte for your help with planning and decision making all along the way.

Thank you to Mary Totino for baking all those delicious treats as well setting up the "Break Room".

Thank you to Mr. Vescio from JCM for sharing his many years of expertise in hosting ISP events.

Finally, thank you to all the Madonna staff, students and Principal Kristine Carey for hosting a great event.

Special Thank You to Mr. Griffith, who took the initiative to come up with the idea and spearhead the event despite not even being in Special Education. Mr. Griffith, you are the definition of the word LEADER and are guiding example of what it is to be a Catholic Educator looks like.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
