In a dynamic collaboration between the Toronto Catholic District School Board's (TCDSB) Central Guidance team and the Barrett Centre for Technology and Innovation, STEAM students from Madonna Catholic Secondary School headed to Humber Polytechnic on April 24 for an immersive STEM Hackathon.

Hands-On Innovation

The day was designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the cutting edge of modern industry. Students toured state-of-the-art facilities, gaining firsthand exposure to post-secondary pathways in:

  • Advanced Robotics

  • Precision Manufacturing

The highlight for many was the STEAM experiential learning labs. Our students jumped into high-tech challenges, testing and troubleshooting the Draw-bot, LEGO robotics, and Puzzle Bot. The Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology also provided a high-level introduction to Mechatronics, showing the girls how mechanical engineering, electronics, and computing converge in the real world.

Empowerment Through Diversity

Madonna students walked away with more than just technical knowledge; they gained the perspective needed to begin engineering their own dream careers.

A special thank you to the Administration and Guidance Team at Madonna for their support and collaboration in making this day possible.
