Season of Lent and Easter

The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) looks forward every year to celebrating the Season of Lent and Easter as a faith community.

Many schools observe Shrove Tuesday, then begin Lent by observing Ash Wednesday.

Opportunities for reflection and prayer lead up to Holy Week celebrations in school and Easter Triduum liturgies in parishes.

Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, and the ritual burning of the previous year's Holy Week palms takes place, finalizing one's Lenten sacrifice.

To learn more about this day, and how pancakes became involved, see the Archdiocese of Toronto infograph.
